Brownsville Family Dentistry strives to educate not only our valued customers but also the community at large on issues of dental health. The consumption of foods and drinks that are high in sugar and starch continues at a high level and it is estimated that the average teenager drinks 81 gallons of soft drinks a year! But it is not just teenagers because the American Heart Association has found that most of us consume roughly 22 teaspoons of added sugar each day when the recommended sugar intake is only 6 to 9 teaspoons a day.
Consequently, we are very involved in the Rio Grande Valley community and offer dental education seminars to schools and provide complimentary dental kits to children. We also participate in health and job fairs as well as other community activities.
Our WILLY the WALRUS DENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAM has been in operation for over a decade and we have reached over 50,000 children in the Rio Grande Valley with basic dental hygiene information.
